Retirement homes are licensed under the Retirement Homes Act and are entirely private-pay. Residents are generally independent; care is sold as add-on packages.
Why it matters
The base rate advertised is for accommodation and meals. Care packages are extra and reassessed periodically, which is where budgets slip.
