Privacy and your data
Written to be read by the person it is about. PIPEDA applies to us; so does Ontario's health privacy law, which is why we hold as little health information as we can get away with.
Last updated September 1, 2026. When this changes materially we say so on the page rather than quietly amending it.
The one-line version
Only a provider you tick gets your number, only for fourteen days, and you can take it back at any moment from your dashboard.
Privacy questions and access requests go to hello@seniorcarez.com. If we have not resolved something to your satisfaction you can complain to the Office of the Privacy Commissioner of Canada, and we will tell you how.
What we deliberately do not collect
The cheapest way to protect health information is not to hold it. So we do not ask for, and the booking form will not accept as a required field:
- Diagnoses, medication lists or medical history.
- Health card numbers, OHIP numbers or insurer policy numbers.
- Documents from a hospital or doctor.
- Anything about the person receiving care beyond a first name, an age and the practical help they need.
What we do hold
- Your name, mobile number and the address the visit happens at.
- The first name, age and practical needs of the person receiving care.
- Your bookings, shortlist, saved providers and the permissions you have granted.
- Anything you type into the optional note. We ask you to leave clinical detail out of it.
Who gets your phone number
Only a provider you have explicitly ticked, and only for as long as that permission lasts. A permission covers one conversation and expires after fourteen days on its own — you do not have to remember to turn it off.
Before you tick anyone, providers see an enquiry with no name and no number. They see the care type, the area, the timing and the practical needs. That is enough for them to say yes or no, and not enough for them to phone you.
Withdrawing a permission takes effect immediately. Your dashboard has a button for it next to every provider.
Who we never give it to
- Lead brokers, referral agencies or aggregators — we do not sell leads and have no commercial relationship with anyone who does.
- Insurers, financial advisers or funeral businesses.
- Advertising networks. We do not run third-party ad pixels on pages where you are logged in or filling in a booking.
- Providers whose permission has lapsed or been withdrawn.
Where the data lives
In a Canadian data region. Care arrangements for Canadian families should not require a transfer to another jurisdiction, and ours does not.
Your shortlist, saved providers and text-size preference are stored in your own browser, not on our servers. Clearing your browser data clears them and we never see them.
Your rights
- Ask for a copy of everything we hold about you, in a readable format, within 30 days.
- Ask us to correct anything wrong.
- Ask us to delete your account and everything attached to it. We do, except where a booking record is needed to resolve a live dispute — and we tell you if that applies.
- Withdraw any contact permission at any time, immediately, without giving a reason.
Cookies
We use what is needed to keep you signed in and to count page views in aggregate. No cross-site advertising trackers, no fingerprinting, no selling of behavioural data. There is no cookie banner because there is nothing to consent to beyond the essentials.
