PSW
Personal Support Worker
A PSW holds a college certificate and provides personal care — bathing, dressing, transfers, meals, medication reminders. They are not a regulated profession in Ontario, which means there is no public register to check; verification falls to the employer, or to us.
Why it matters
Most home care hours are PSW hours, and PSW rates are the ones on the listings here. A PSW cannot give an injection or change a complex dressing — that needs a nurse, at a higher rate.
