POA
Power of Attorney
Ontario has two: one for property, one for personal care. They are separate documents and can name different people. Both must be made while the person still has capacity.
Why it matters
Without a POA for property, nobody can pay for care from your parent's account — and getting authority afterwards means a guardianship application, which takes months.
