College of Nurses of Ontario
The CNO maintains a public register. Anyone can look up a nurse by name and see whether their registration is current and whether there have been findings against them.
Why it matters
If a nurse is not on the CNO register, they are not a nurse. This is the one credential check a family can do themselves in two minutes.
